American Adoptions Covers the USOne of our adoptive families asked: “How do most birth mothers find American Adoptions? Is there a certain state or part of the country that you find most of your birth mothers?”

Birth mothers locate American Adoptions in a variety of ways. The internet has become increasingly important as more people turn to the web to find information and resources. We are contacted daily via our website by women seeking more information about placing their baby for adoption, wanting to ask a question, searching for the right adoptive parents for their baby, etc. Although many people have access to the internet today, there are still many women who are interested in adoption but do not have this resource.

For this reason, it is still important to promote our services via the yellow pages. This was once number one way that women located American Adoptions but has been replaced by the internet. However, many women find American Adoptions through advertisements placed in their local yellow pages. Other women simply pick up their telephone, not knowing where to turn. and dial 1-800-ADOPTION, which leads them to American Adoptions. Some women are referred to American Adoptions by their doctor or hospital, a crisis pregnancy center, friends and family or even other Adoption Professionals who cannot service them. We believe that networking is crucial and have built many referral resources throughout the country.

Since American Adoptions is a national adoption agency able to work with birth parents in every state with the assistance of other adoption professionals in our network, we find birth mothers interested in working with American Adoptions from all states. This means that an adoptive family could receive an adoption opportunity with a birth mother from most anywhere in the country. There are some states and regions that we tend to have more birth mothers come from, however. Every year, American Adoptions completes many adoptions in Florida, Kansas, Missouri, Arizona and Arkansas, all states in which we are licensed. American Adoptions also tends to complete many adoptions in some of the more populated states, such as Texas or California.

These may be some of our trends, but you should know that American Adoptions has worked with birth mothers in every state and that we have experienced successful adoptions in 49 states. (I believe the only state we have not had an adoption in is Alaska.) With the help of the internet, people interested in adoption from all over are able to make contact with American Adoptions so we may assist with their adoption journey and help bring families together.
