Social media has quickly become one of the most important ways to promote a cause or share something important – like the benefits of adoption!

At American Adoptions, we’re always trying to expand our social media reach. Doing so is a benefit to our waiting adoptive families as well as to adoption in general. Every time you or someone else writes or shares something about adoption, others take notice!

Here are some of the ways you can use social media to promote adoption and American Adoptions during National Adoption Month:

  • Write a post about adoption for your own blog or website! And be sure to link back to our blog or website – you can even include a link to your online profile or video profile – so that birth mothers and other adoptive families can find us!
  • Update your status. And mention American Adoptions and National Adoption Month.
  • Retweet an American Adoptions tweet. Or include us in a tweet. We love getting shout-outs!
  • Share a favorite American Adoptions blog post!

A Special Note on Facebook:

Facebook now requires page admins to pay to promote their updates if we want our content to be seen by fans who have already liked our page. If we do not pay to promote our posts, only about 10% of our fans will receive updates on their Facebook home page feed.

To keep RECEIVING ALL POSTS FROM American Adoptions (or any other page you ‘like’), you’ll have to hover the mouse on the “Like” button. In the drop-down menu, select ”ADD TO INTEREST LISTS.” Then create an interest list (and make a name for your favorite sites). When you select that interest list, you will again get all of our posts and not 10% of them.

If you’re talking about adoption out in the blogosphere, let us know! Send us a link to your adoption blog at editors@americanadoptions.com!

Also on this Veterans Day, we’d like to thank the men and women who serve our country in the armed forces. It’s a pleasure working with you and being a part of your adoption stories! Revisit last year’s post on Veteran’s Day to learn how we help military families who are looking to adopt!
