For today’s Testimonial Tuesday, we have Mendy’s adoption story. Mendy placed her daughter for adoption through American Adoptions several years ago. Mendy describes the emotions she felt during the adoption process and the sense of peace she has now. She writes:

“I could write a book about my story, but I will try to keep it short. Like many, I never thought in a million years I would be in the position I was in and would have to make the choice that I did. My biggest fear was the end. Little did I know it was only the beginning.

I have done something in my life that truly made me proud of myself. All of the negative and hurt I had was completely replaced by peace. The family that I chose could not have been any better. Not only did they deserve my baby, but my baby deserved them. I thought I was going to lose so much when I handed her off to her new family but I gained more than I thought. I gained self-respect for myself and I gained a compassion and love for two strangers that I entrusted to love my little girl and do their very best by her.

If I could reach out to every girl going through adoption I would let them know that you will be OK. Yes, there are emotions and a lot of hurt, but it fades especially knowing that what you are doing is truly amazing and the best thing for the baby. All I had to guide me was my faith, and my faith took care of everything!”
